8 Ways Why Yoga is Better Than Gym
The truth is that I had always been a high-impact sports person like jogging or tennis and I was also regular at the gym for a while but when I started doing yoga three years ago with my first pregnancy, it changed my life. I had finally found the physical activity I was looking for and I have not stopped practicing it since! Although I'm not an anti-gym person, I do believe yoga Beats up the gym on all levels.
Many people ask me if I do another exercise besides yoga. And my answer is nothing! Yoga is everything that I need for my body to function optimally and here are my reasons:
1. It's efficient!

Why spend so much time in the gym working every part of my body separately when I can connect all points at the same time with yoga? No weight lifting is going to make my arms stronger like holding the weight of my own body as in the hand stoppages in yoga. In addition, virtually everything you do in yoga strengthens the basal structure of your body, from positions centered on the body trunk to moving from one pose to the next, using your core to stabilize your body. And in different investments and balance positions in the arms, yoga allows you to increase your heart rate, strengthen your muscles, and extend them all at the same time. Isn't that efficiency?
2. Can count as cardio.
All you have to do is incorporate into your practice greetings to the sun or do flow at a constant pace by coordinating your breathing with your movements. Or, if you're a little more adventurous, try some kriyas from the kundalini.
3. It's not a competitive sport.
One of the things I like most about yoga is that it's not competitive. Isn't there enough competition at work and in life in general? While some people are excited to be the fastest in the spinning class or try to run longer on the treadmill than the woman next door, in yoga it doesn't matter what the rest is doing. There is no comparison or competition because you only look at yourself.
4. It saves money.
In fact, yoga doesn't have to cost money. Everything you need to practice you. You can wear any clothes that allow you to move comfortably, and you don't even need a mandatory yoga mat: grass and carpet work without any problems. If you're looking for inspiration, you can find thousands of non-expensive yoga dvds or free videos on the internet.
5. You can do it anywhere.
Without the need for equipment, it doesn't matter if you're at home, in the office, or traveling. Whenever you intend to, you can practice yoga wherever you want.
6. Yoga practice will help you lose weight.
Practicing yoga changes your mind: it changes the way you face life, your body, and your diet. Yoga shows you how to appreciate your body for all the amazing things it can do and leads you to want to fill it with the best fuel rather than processed junk food. And changing your mind about your body and the foods you eat is a much more effective tool for weight loss than burning thousands of calories in a super aggressive kick-boxing class that will also unconsciously make you consume the same or more calories during the day.
7. There's a lot of variety.
Yoga can be different every day, if you want it to be. You want more challenges? it adds investments and arm balance postures in practice. Do you need to focus? try to make a sequence of equilibrium postures on the same foot. Or if you're looking for relaxation, try more restorative postures. Besides there are different types of yoga, just see which type suits you best.
8. No injuries.
In yoga practice you quickly learn to unite your body and mind. This allows you to move easily and pay attention to what your body feels constantly, so you move in a way that feels good for you and not in a way that makes you uncomfortable or uncomfortable. The result is that you will feel strong and healthy and without injury!
Being fair, I have to admit that this is an argument that sees things from one side. But for those who ask, " what more do I need besides yoga?"I say to them: if you have to choose one for another, choose the one that saves you time, money, makes you feel good and helps you lose weight.
